Could be virus.: Usually with strep throat you're going to have a fever right from the beginning when you have pain. Not everyone runs a fever. I have had my share of strep throats without a fever. It all depends on how your immune system reacts. Many sore throats are not strep but are actually viruses. The only way to tell the difference is to see your doctor. If you are not running a fever I suspect a virus.
