Possibly: Infections in the mouth can get rather smelly. If your root canal was started and not finished you may still have a bit of an odor coming from your tooth. Usually after completing the root canal and removal of all the decay it gets better. If you have a temporary filling or temporary crown it could also be the cause. Placing a crown on the tooth after a root canal is very important!

It is normal: It sounds like you are tasting/smelling root canal medication and it is perfectly normal. Once the root canal treatment is completed, you will need to see your general dentist to have a final crown or filling placed on the tooth.
