Yes, it's possible: Herpes can first cause symptoms a year or more after being infected, especially if the symptoms are mild -- i.e. just a few localized sores, no fever, no inflamed lymph nodes. With multiple lesions, inflamed nodes, etc, you can assume the infection was caught within 3 weeks before symptoms started, usually 3-10 days. All this can happen either with or without an autoimmune disease.
