How many units?: I want my patients vitamin D levels to be "optimal". I consider a serum level of 50 to 70 ng/mL to be optimal. Certainly not too low, but not too high either. I would ask your doctor to continue to monitor your serum level until it is optimal while titrating your dose to achieve that effect
