Bypass wt loss: Yes and no. Some people do lose a little weight in the first week, others don't, and some people are actually heavier at one week. Why? Some people end up getting a lot of IV fluid while in the hospital which adds weight and can make you heavier. The bottom line is that at one week after surgery, your weight really isn't that important. I look to see what they have lost at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 months.

Possible: With gastric bypass surgery, it is certainly very posible to start seeing weight loss within the first week post-op. Best wishes.
