Sometimes: Increased hernias after rny because of protein malabsorption. Also after duodenal switch. But not typically with lap band or the gastric sleeve.

Anatomy: I do not get the question and am trying to understand it from your point of view. Being obese or significantly over weight increases the likelihood of all kinds of hernias. But, a hiatal hernia is very different than an umbilical or abdominal wall hernia. I see no connection between any kind of hernia and the ability to lose weight.
