On left side of lower neck, a small nodule under skin (lymph node?), it is soft, same size. not protruding. no pain. any way of knowing what it is?

Sounds like: lymph node, but it could be something else. IF it is truly a lymph node, lF is less than 1 cm, and IF it is not enlarging, it is probably nothing. But that is a lot of IFs. Best to show it to your doctor.
