Exercise when cooler: When the weather is hot, one can exercise early in the morning or later in the evening (be sure to use mosquito repellent spray if mosquitoes are in season). During the daytime, swimming is fine even in hot weather. Otherwise, indoor activities such as going up and down stairs, walking in circles at an air-conditioned shopping mall (without snacking), or indoor ice-skating are all calorie-burners.

Get creative: To lose weight you need to increase your activity level and decrease your caloric intake and this can take on many forms. Some say diet is even more a factor in losing weight than exercise. Look for small ways to cut calories and only eat when your are physically hungry. Whatever you currently do, increase by just a little daily--even moving your arms & legs while seated is burning calories!

Water, small meals: Weight loss occurs when your body uses up more calories than you take in. Exercise causes your body to use more calories, and also can speed up your metabolism so that even when not exercising you are using more calories. Try to eat low calorie foods after exercising like vegetables, drink a lot of water. Also eat smaller meals more frequently.

Cardio Mix: You cannot target specific areas for weight loss - if you have adipose tissue to lose (not everyone does), then consider an increase in cardio & a balanced diet. However, do not always do the same exercise or you will increase your risks for stress injuries. Mix things up with walking, running, biking, swimming, elliptical, or circuit training. Ultimately you need to burn more than you consume.
