Watch hydration: A mouth ulcer in a baby can be a serious illness. The initial exposure to herpes virus, for example, can produce significant symptoms including dehydration because swallowing can be quite painful. If you sense any of these issues, be sure to get to a pediatrician ASAP.

Very common: and aren’t usually serious. They usually don’t need treatment and will clear up within a week. If your child develops severe mouth ulcers with symptoms of general illness see a pediatrician. Take care.
