Two issues.: First, it's easy to determine the thyroid's functional status by simply sending blood for a TSH test, the most sensitive functional test. Second, one should send blood for thyroid antibodies to determine the presence or absence of antibodies to ones thyroid tissue; if present, the autoimmune disease is termed Hashimoto's thyroiditis, a disease which can cause an overactive or underactive thyroid.

Thyroidologist: This is too confusing to you and a thyroidologist or endocrinologist would be best qualified to evaluate and treat you. It may simply be a matter of adjusting the medication that was prescribed for treating your hypothyroidism.

THYROID DISEASE: If your symptoms have been flipping, you mayo ave an autoimmune thyroid disease called Hashimotos thyroiditos. Have your doctor recheck labs and Che k thyroid antibodies. And endocrine consult/ Thyroid Ultrasound/thyroid nuclear med scan may be needed. Seek prompt follow up and second medical opinion.
