Never had heart problems until stopped taking atenolol for hyperthyroid (levels now normal). doc didnt say to wean as took low dose for 2 weeks. now i wake almost every hour with heart rate at 145 then slows down. withdrawal? will be doing holter?

You should see the doctor who prescribed the atenolol. If the thyroid hasn’t been normal for very long, you may need to be on the low dose atenolol for a bit longer. It is also possible the high heart rate is unrelated to the thyroid. A holter monitor would definitely help figure out how often your heart rate increases and how high it goes. You may still need atenolol. Good luck to you!!
