Nothing long term: It should not have any long term effects. If there was any effect on your heart, starting your medication again should reverse it.

not necessarily: However, you should take your medications as prescribed by your doctor, and always tell doctors in er what medications you are taking , you will most likely need to have a thyroid function test to evalute the need to adjust the dose of your medication.

Not likely!: Synthroid (thyroxine) 50 mcg is a fairly low dose. While you shouldn't suddenly stop meds, your risk of problems from being off and now restarting it are virtually nil. Sudden high levels of thyroid hormone introduced into your system could cause a faster heart rate for a short time, but 50 mcg will probably not do so. If you had problems starting synthroid (thyroxine) before, you could always take half for 2 days.
