How can you distinguish between benign and malignant ovarian masses?

Dr. Ron Eaker answered

A challenge: There are many factors that may help in making this distinction. Age plays a big factor as masses in women over 50 are more worrisome. The type of mass is critical as solid or complex masses are more worrisome than simple fluid filled cysts. Size sometimes plays a role although this is less specific. In many cases you can't say 100% until they are out.
