A member asked:

If i had a transvaginal ultrasound 9 months ago and it showed no ovarian masses or abnormalities, how quickly could cancer develop from that time and begin to cause symptoms such as pain in my left rib cage? trying to determine cause of discomfort?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would expect a gas pocket in the loop of large intestine that turns down at that location to be the most common trigger of pain at that spot. It triggers a crampy episodic discomfort that can change with position. Rare things do occur, but are labeled rare for a reason.
