Tough Flu Season: This has been a tough Influenza season. The vaccine wasn't a great match to what has been circulating. Additionally Influenza-A was prevalent early in the season, and now Influenza-B is becoming more common! See a doctor soon (in 48 hours or less) if you have severe symptoms.

Generalization: If you have a high fever, runny nose, congestion, body aches and dry cough, yes, you may have "severe flu." If it's been more than one week, if you have shortness of breath or chest pain, or are too weak to care for yourself, you need to seek medical care. The flu itself isn't particularly serious but it can lead to complications like pneumonia. Best wishes.

Severe Flu: There also is the possibility of having a secondary Bacterial infection, such as Acute Bronchitis, Sinusitis or Pneumonia, depending on symptoms. For Flu, I think of sudden high fevers , extreme fatigue and every part of your body is hurting. It usually comes with a painful cough. Tamiflu treats some of the flu for 5 days as soon as you have symptoms. Push fluids due to fevers+ sweating
