A member asked:

I cannot walk and i have been trying to lose weight for weeks following a strict 1300 calorie diet to no avail. why won't it come off??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Weight loss: often the weight loss one sees from adequately decreasing calories is not realized until several weeks after diet changes begin. one possibility is gain in lean muscle mass. muscle weighs more than fat so even if you're losing fat the total weight may not change. certain medications such as opioid pain meds can slow intestinal transit time and increase caloric absorption. keep trying!
