A member asked:

Is microwave ablation beneficial for liver met if chemo has failed? there is also mets to few other sites.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is effective: When there is a solitary lesion that is difficult to resect, jpossibly associated with portal hypertension, microwave ablation can be used to treat up to 5 discrete lesions, but each no larger than 3-5 cm. When not applicable, chemo embolization injecting chemo into the feeding hepatic arteries and closing vessels off is also another way along with radioactive microspheres.
