Mgt/workup: I would advise using gentle infant nasal saline. If her cough is moderate to severe, causing gagging or interfering with feeding, she should be evaluated. The testing can include Pertussis, RSV and community acquired viral panels, in addition to considering bacterial causes. Monitor her temperature, and please let your physician know if she has a fever.

Cough: a cough in a 3 month could be a serious problem. You should call your pediatrician for him to check your baby before giving cough medicine. Go to ER if she is breathing more rapidly than usual or working harder to breath. Also wheezing is an important sign. If she is coughing up yellow, greenish or bloody sputum and or has a temp of 101 that requires immediate attention.

Not really: The best treatment for cough in a 3 mo is: exclusion of all irritants from their environment, moist air in the form of a humidifier or vaporizer, and nasal saline nose wash.
