Many things help: You can put a humidifier in the room (cool mist is best), raise the head of the crib a few inches, and a number of other things depending on what the cause is. Problems in babies can look different from one day to the next. If there is trouble breathing, poor feeding, irritability or fever, see your pediatrician again.

Second opinion: Cough is a symptom. There are many causes. If chest xray is normal. One can may sure your child is not aspirating. Many children with reflux have silent aspiration manifested as chronic cough or nocturnal asthma.
