It depends: There are no hard and fast answers about which med works best for what patient. Every patient is different in how the med works for them, in what dosage, and how side-effects are experienced or not. My colleagues might not appreciate my saying this but there is a great deal of trial and error in prescribing psychotropic medications.

Talk to your doctor: Talk to your doctor about your treatment options. Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) might be a better option for you if you have a family history of addiction. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis. Sometimes testing by a psychologist is requested to assist with the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder in adults.

Hard to say: The only advantage of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is that it cannot be taken by nasal insufflation (snorting), which is a popular way to abuse the drugs in adolescents and young adults. It is metabolized to the same medicine that is in Adderal. Non-pharmacological treatment is available and should be tried, and atomexitine is a drug used to treat ADHD that has very little abuse potential.

Caffeine: Neither. Caffeine will give you half the dose of ritalin according to University of Minnesota Psychiatry Professor Larry Greenberg MD who developed the Test of Variable Attention or TOVA to help assess ADHD and ADD. Caffeine although addictive has only headaches as a side effect when withdrawn. It's safer too.
