A member asked:

Hi there. is ok to combine cephalexin and ciproflaxin for a uti? i had cephalexin but it is expired i think, but i have a bottle of ciiproflaxin that isn't. i already took a tablet of the expired one, is ok to take the cipro?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and No: no significant interactions. Cephalexin is not the best UTI drug anyways. However, antibiotics are prescribed for previous infectious condition. I don't generally recommend taking old prescription drug for a new condition. But yes they can be taken together unless you are taking other medication that may interact with cipro (ciprofloxacin) (like warfarin) or heart problem like QTc prolongation.
