Medicine guesswork: & likely both antibiotic & steroid were not helpful/ inappropriate; recommended for desire to do something, often a big problem driving inappropriate yet expensive treatment. Cold is a widely promoted/accepted catch-all for lots of illnesses, regardless various actual mechanisms. Try antihistamine & Valsalva maneuver to open up ear. Would love to help but more guesswork than usual from a distance.
