No: No you cannot. The blood level from topical is very low unless you bathe in it.

A 23-year-old member asked:

Why does blood bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) level decrease if you have addison's disease?

Loss of Aldosterone: Metabolic acidosis (increased h+ and blood acidity) due to decreased bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) level in addisonian crisis is due to loss of the hormone aldosterone because sodium reabsorption in the distal tubule is linked with acid/hydrogen ion (h+) secretion. Less aldosterone stimulation of the renal distal tubule leads to sodium wasting in urine and h+ retention in the serum, resulting in bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) drop.

Is it okay to get pregnant if you are on steroids for adrenal insufficiency?

Absolutely: Women with ai can be pregnant and receive the standard ai treatment. If nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy interfere with oral medication, steroid injections may be necessary. During delivery, women are treated with intravenous stress dosing of Hydrocortisone and following delivery, the dose can be gradually tapered to the usual maintenance doses of hydrocortisone. Good luck !

Do inhaled steroids work to give allergy relief?

Yes: If you mean inhaled nasal steroids, yes. They are probably the best and most effective way of treating allergic rhinitis. I use them first line and use oral antihistamines as "rescue" medications.
