I have copd and a recent blood test showed my hematocrit of 55. oxsymmetry test was ok. what could be the cause? sleep apnea? thanks

Ask your doctor: Your hematocrit is slightly high but it is not unexpected if you have COPD which causes some impairment of oxygenation of the blood. So your body is making more red cells in order to compensate for it. Ask you doctor if the other blood cells are all normal because similar changes can occur in Polycythemia Vera(P.Vera) which is a blood disease where there is excessive production of red cells &wbc,
