A member asked:

Is lab corp ana direct as accurate as ana if?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Accurate?: The ANA is fraught with technical difficulties, but it's also critical that you understand how nonspecific a positive ANA is, even at a fairly high titer like 1:160. Perhaps one older person in 4 has a positive ANA and it proves nothing -- the vast majority of healthy. It's only one piece of a diagnostic puzzle. Hope this helps -- if not please repost and let us know exactly what' s up.
