Stop checking: If your ANA has been positive in the absence of any physical symptoms and every test for negative auto-immune disease is negative, stop checking the ANA. It is very non-specific. Additional tests would be necessary to make a diagnosis. The ANA should not be used as the only result to make treatment decisions.
