Exercise: Older adults starting a new exercise should exhibit some caution. Start with walking, increase gradually. Consider yoga which is available at many levels, or Tai Chi which is great for balance and general fitness. Some older adults benefit from swimming or water aerobics. Many gyms have fitness programs specifically geared to older adults as well.

Remember: There is no one size fits all answer to a question like this. It depends on your present fitness level, past exercise history and any underlying orthopedic and/or cardiopulmonary limitations. Some older patients still run marathons or lift heavy weights others really need to focus on low impact exercise like on a stationary cycle and yoga.
