OCT of the : optic nerve helps with the diagnosis but it does not proveit on its own. Many factors are taken into account before confirming the diagnosis including optic nerve appearance, eye pressure, visual field test etc. If glaucoma is confirmed, OCTs are reliable for following the progression up until the more severe stages of glaucoma. Good luck.

Pretty reliable: Recent studies show that the recent commercially available OCT provides reliable NFL thickness measurements in both healthy and glaucomatous eyes with each circle radius tested: in other words OCT is pretty reliable. But still 14% can still be missed as having glaucoma with an HRT (type OCT) alone. Other tests like VEP, evaluation of nerve by eyeMD and visual field are needed. Eyedoc2020.blogs.com
