No same day surg: Very unusual to have surgery on your knee at a first appointment unless you have an infection or a traumatic open joint.. Rarely would recommend same day surgery if the knee is "locked" from a on reduceable displaced meniscus tear. The doc will ask you questions, exam your knee and probably take some x-rays. Specical tests may be ordered like a MRI or blood tests. Relax!

Consultation: There should not be elective knee surgery on the same day. Expect a consultation where an exam, x-rays and treatment options will be fully explained to you. There should also be time for you to have all of your questions answered to your satisfaction. Good luck!
