What is the resting phase of the cardiac cycle?

Cycle: diastole is what we call the resting phase of the cycle. It really isn't resting, it is relaxing during this time. Systole is the contracting phase of the cardiac cycle when the muscle is shortening. There is both active contraction and active relaxation of the heart. Folks just call the relaxation phase the 'resting' phase.
