A few tips : There's a new medication called alvimopan, but this must be started preop to work. Avoiding narcotic pain medication also helps. We tell our patients to walk as much as possible. Also consider chewing gum and sucking on hard candy to help things along. Unfortunately, time may be the only thing that works. Hope this helps! Good luck!
