Several causes...: Your fluid retention may be from the intravenous fluids you received during your operation and recovery. You may also be (relatively) , malnourished, with decreased protein stores which can also cause swelling. Follow up with your surgeon. Good luck, feel better.

What Surgey ?: Depending what type of surgery and how long you were in the hospital and if you take water pills? And if you do did they give it to you in the hospital ? And do you have chest pain? If yes your heart needs to be checked out ? So as you see there are many more questions for you then answers. So if you want a more specific answer you need to ask a more specific question
