It depends...: Most common dose would be 2 gm/day (500mg x4 or 875 mg x3) for 7 days. If definitive treatment will be done sooner than 7 days, then a lesser course may be all that is necessary. Consider asking the doc or staff, there could be a specific reason why this particular course of amox was prescribed for you.
