If in pain...: Lipomas do not hurt unless they are in position to be irritated, or transmit pressure to a sensitive area, such as rib. If you are symptomatic, then you have one option. Surgical resection of this benign fatty tumor!

May not be related: Fatty tumors are very common. May folks seek attention for them due to pain. However, the pain is usually not from the lump of fat. There are some other tumor types (neuromas, etc) that will hurt. But these are much less likely. It is usually that there is pain in the area that makes one feel around and find the unrelated lipoma. Lipoma can be removed but likely the pain will persist.
