My top second molars are on the gum going towards my cheek but my dentist hasn't said anything should be done, what would you recommend?

Ask your dentist: I recommend you ask you dentist his/her opinion on the treatment, if any, of that malpositioned tooth. Your dentist has seen it, knows your bite, and can therefore make the best determination as to what to do. Get a second opinion from another local dentist if necessary.

Could be your wisdom: Your second molars usually erupt around 12 years old. Since you are 18, these may be your wisdom teeth. Please see your dentist and ask him/her if these are your second or third molars and if they really are erupting towards your cheeks. Sometimes they may just appear to be angled that way as they break through your gums.

Ask your dentist: Teeth that are in the process of erupting, specifically in this case, your upper seconds molars may cause some temporary irritation and then come in as any other tooth does in time. What needs to be determined is the angle of the teeth and whether or not there is enough room for them. We can't know that. Your own dentist can evaluate that. Ask him\her what he\she thinks is most likely to happen.

2nd molar: Your question is a bit ambiguous. Are you asking1) if the gum is receding on the cheek side of the tooth, or 2) the tooth is out of position and may be moving. If you are concerned return to Dentist and discuss your concerns, or seek 2nd opinion from another General Dentist. If it is a gum recession problem you may want to see a specialist Periodontist. If malocclusion, see an Orthodontist.
