No and soon: Non-preservative tears do not have any side-effects and they start working immediately. If your eyes have been dry for a while, they will take a few weeks to get better.

Artificial tears.: There should be no side effects from non-preserved tears. The tears with preservatives can aggravate dry eye conditions in some cases.
