I hit my hand on a doorway while moving 3 days ago. my index finger knuckle is bruised swollen stiff and tender when i touch it. i can see my knuckle but it is more pronounced sprain or fracture?

Get a X-ray: The only sure way to tell a fracture from a sprain is with x-ray, with several views. And on occasions, with repeat films a few days later, when initial x-ray was negative for fracture. In other words, just by looking at the bruising and swelling, only Superman can tell if it is broken.
