Yes: The use of ice packs to the surgical site will help decrease swelling and help ease pain. Do not keep it on for a long period as you do not want to cause problems with decreased blood flow to the surgical site. Also the cold is unpleasant after a while, which is nature's way of telling us to stop using it for a while.
