Peroxide and Neospor: Speak to your doctor first. However in my practice i typically recommend that my patients gently clean their nose with a soft q-tip soaked in peroxide twice a day. They should not try to dislodge anything, just simply let the peroxide do the work and wipe away, the foamy stuff. After the peroxide apply some antibiotic ointment such as neosporin to the nostrils.

Talk with the doctor: Best to speak with your doctor first. You can soften the crusts with hydrogen peroxide soaked q-tips using a twirling action. Once the the crusting is removed a little non-medicated vaseline can be applied to keep the crusts from reforming. Don't pull on any sutures. I t could start some bleeding. Again, speak with your doctor.

Postoperative care: This is not uncommon and it is important to have your surgeon evaluate you. The first office visit will do much of the cleaning. Call your surgeon and make an appointment.

Call your surgeon: Your surgeon will know what you can and cannot do. If you have splints, there is a suture that you won't want to tug on. Packing should only be removed by your surgeon, unless otherwise instructed by him/her. Generally, cleaning the outside---where you can see--is ok, but be gentle, and don't pull hard on anything!

Yes: Clean the nose with hydrogen peroxide on qtips. After dissolving the scans apply antibiotic ointment to the nostrils and sutures. You can do this three times a day.
