Considerations : Consider getting a comprehensive professional evaluation. Smoothing or loss of enamel can be caused by increased levels of acidity in the mouth which includes gastric regurgitation, acidic foods/beverages coupled with excessive brushing and/or bruxing/grinding of your teeth. Any and all of the above can be reduced or eliminated with professional help.

Splint: It is hard to prevent clenching and grinding, particularly at night. A custom splint will help protect the teeth and tmj. Sometimes, biofeedback therapy works. See a dentist that has an interest in TMJ therapy.

TMJ/Muscle Problems: You may also have a TMJ or muscle dysfunction problem that is getting worse. There are times that a bionator (one type of function orthopedic appliance) may be of great help especially when using for sleeping as well as when you can during the day. This tends to retrain and heal the muscles to help them function normally. Find a dentist that is familiar with TMJ & use of a bionator.

TMJ expert: See a TMJ expert to try to get control of your clenching/grinding. Wearing a mouth guard will help prevent further wear on your teeth. Your dentist can help repair the damage already done.
