Not necessarily: Pinched nerve problem may well be reversible, and depends upon effect. Such as, does it cause unbearable pain, progressive numbness, weakness, loss of function. Always best to fully discuss options, both conservative and aggressive.

Pinched nerve : Most physicians are capable of suggesting treatment for radiculopathy (shooting pains from pinched nerve). Lumbar pain is called sciatica. If not getting worse, associated with abnormal bowel or bladder function, or severe pain, a quick exam and history can often lead to the correct diagnosis. Orthopedic and neurosurgical specialists can determine if surgery is necessary.
