I just had surgery because of a pinched nerve on 5l. now i have foot dropped. the doctor today said it was normal. will i get better?

Advice: Hate to say it, but foot drop is NOT NORMAL, and in your case, likely due to either nerve compression on L-5 nerve root or perhaps transient surgical complication. Suggest, MRI and EMG, perhaps some temporary steroids, and use of an AFO splint to keep foot stable. Have a meeting with your doctor and get all of this situated.
