Tell Surgeon: I'm sorry to hear about the complication you are experiencing; this is especially frustrating since you are on vacation. Best to communicate with you surgeon ( phone or e-mail); he/she should be aware of the situation and provide you with a plan. Fortunately, a seroma will not necessarily pose an urgent problem and may be able to be dealt with when you are back home ( usually aspiration). Best.

Wait unless pain: Seroma is fluid build -up in the area of surgery. It can lead to redness, infection and wound opening. However, it can wait until you see your doctor unless, it is bothering you and you are in a place that good medical care is available. You may go to a close emergency room and the physician may be able to aspirate it for you and put a compressive bandage.

Seromas are annoying: If you can see your doctor in a few days its ok to wait... If not, you will need to find a local surgeon to remove the fluid. The liquid in a seroma is slowing down your healing by preventing the skin from adhering to the underlying muscles so you should get it taken care of soon.

Use technology: Call your surgeon, and perhaps send him a few clear photos of your tummy with seroma with your smartphone. He/she can then recommend whether it's ok to wait until you get home, or whether you need to see a local surgeon for more urgent evaluation and treatment.
