Several: Usually we start with one or two drugs. More out now on combination of low dose of two drugs. Usually a combination of an ace inhibitor with low dose hydrocholorothiazide or Chlorthalidone is selected. One may opt for a beta blocker with hctz/chlorthalidone but in males particularly, beta blocker can have untoward sexual side effects. Arb's may be used for ace. It is usually individualized.

Diuretic: A thiazide diuretic such as Chlorthalidone is probably the best first line treatment in uncomplicated hypertension. Your primary medical doctor can prescribe this.
