A member asked:

Can you take mucinex (guaifenesin) dm for high blood pressure patients?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ok: Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM contains Dextromethorphan a cough suppressant and Guaifenesin an expectorant. The combo is used to treat cough and chest congestion caused by common colds, bronchitis, sinus infections. Should not elevate blood pressure. Avoid decongestants; names like pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, phenylephrine, naphazoline and oxymetazoline which can increase blood pressure
