Depends on…: Location of tear & degree of tear & types of activities u r involved in. Actions that involve rapid change of direction on weight-bearing knee can exacerbate injury. Simple walking shouldn't cause problems unless a piece of cartilage tears free (joint mouse) & catches, causing decreased range of motion. Follow up with orthopedic/sports medicine specialist.
