Workup: If the surgery was fairly recent, then an infection needs to be ruled out - this would typically exhibit swelling and pain and redness and drainage of the knee. If there is no infection then aggressive physical therapy is often required to restore pain free motion and strength. If therapy fails, then a new MRI may show new or additional pathology causing the persistent symptoms.
