Meniscus tears: This doesn't sound like an emergency that would require you to go to the hospital. It would be reasonable to use the knee brace and/or crutches to stabilize the knee for now, and make an appointment to see your orthopedist. With your prior history of knee surgery, you may have meniscus tears again. It also sounds like your knee is hyperextending, suggesting ligamentous laxity.
