Multiple causes: One condition associated with low platelets in pregnancy is called "gestational thrombocytopenia". This is typically a condition that manifests itself in the third trimester of pregnancy. Other more serious conditions that lower platelets are itp (idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura), and hellp syndrome.
