Sometimes: If the us shows a contracted gallbladder, or one full of stones or a stone wedged in the neck of the gallbladder or dilated ducts or an inflamed gb -- that may indicate a situation that is "bad" and needs surgery sooner than later. But if the us is negative, given your hida and your ef and your symptoms, one could make an argument for removing your gb without having the us.

Yes and no: Soon can often tell if gb is inflamed if wall is thickened.But even if sono normal if you have classic symptoms and a markedly depressed ef like yours, most people will benefit from having gb removed.

Not always: Ultrasound will identify physical problems with your gb like stones, sludge, calcifications etc. With abnormal hida and symptoms as you described, surgery is indicated. Good luck!
